Investors and Business Immigrants
The federal business class includes:
Investors
A federal Investor immigrant must have accumulated a net worth of at least $800,000.00 CAD and have, for at least two of the last five years, management and control (ownership) of a qualifying business, or non ownership but management of a qualifying business with at least five employees. The issuance of an immigration visa is conditional upon the investor immigrant making an irrevocable investment (interest free loan) of $400,000.00 CAD in accordance with the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Regulations prior to visa issuance. The investment is not made until the application receives conditional approval.
Entrepreneurs
A federal Entrepreneur immigrant must have business experience and accumulated a net worth of at least $300,000.00 CAD. The immigration visa is conditional upon the Entrepreneur owning and managing a Canadian business that employs a Canadian, and is successful for at least one year in the three years following the day on which the Entrepreneur becomes a permanent resident, in accordance with the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Regulations.
Self-employed
A federal Self-employed immigrant must have relevant experience and the intention and ability to be self-employed in Canada and to make a significant contribution to specified economic activities in Canada such as the arts, sports, or farming.
