Some Canadian provinces and territories have agreements with the federal government permitting them to nominate foreign nationals for permanent residence.  Each provincial nominee program is designed to facilitate immigration of those candidates who will best contribute to unique provincial needs through business, worker, and family processing streams.

Some provinces also assist nominees in obtaining temporary status as workers while the federal government processes their permanent residence applications.
